Get Up and Get Out

Have you ever sat at your desk, looked outside, and just wished you could be well… out there... rather than in here? Well we’ve got good news for you. Getting outside has been proven to be a key part of your health. Just in case you need some proof, here are 6 reasons why you should get up and get out (rather than sit on your couch).

  1. Going out can improve your ability to focus- studies have shown that you can concentrate better after you have spent time outside.

  2. Walking in nature can improve your short term memory

  3. Being outside is calming and can help you to de-stress-The stress hormone in your body (cortisol) decreases when you are outside

  4. Spending time in nature will improve your immunity system-your white blood cells (the things that prevent you from getting sick) actually increase when you are in nature.

  5. It can improve your vision-yep, you read that right. Indoor lighting can make it difficult for your eyes to focus on an image. Being outside can help alleviate this problem.

  6. It actually helps you live longer-Those that live closer to a park or vegetation have been proven to live longer. Even if you don’t have a park near your home, make an effort to get out in nature and improve your long-term health.

With so many good reasons to go outside, we really don’t understand why you are still sitting here. GET OUT. Let us know how it went!
